Buckley Radio is seeking a candidate to join the Advertising Sales Department. The ideal candidate should possess some sales experience or general business experience. A background in radio sales or radio in general is a plus, but not a requirement. The chosen candidate will undergo an intensive formal training program (at Buckley Radio expense), during which time he or she will learn about all aspects of radio broadcasting, marketing and advertising. The person chosen will be exposed to all departments within the radio station, as well as attend sales meetings.
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for someone who is very organized, has a positive out look, and is goal oriented. The person should be outgoing, enjoy meeting people and solving problems. At the conclusion of the training program, the chosen candidate will be expected to call on and develop advertising clients for the radio station. The chosen Account Executive will report directly to the General Sales Manager.
Compensation is based on an initial salary during training, with salary plus commission when the salesperson begins selling. The chosen person will work out of the station studios and business offices in Bloomfield. This outside sales position is not based on a geographic territory. Personal transportation is required.
To arrange for a personal interview, contact Shirley Lepage, Office Manager, at 860-243-1115, or fax 860-286-8257 OR e-mail officemanager@wdrc.com.
For eligibility, applicants must be: a college Junior or Senior with a sincere interest in broadcasting, or a student in a technical program studying communications, available to work at least two days a week during the Fall/Spring semester and at least three days a week during the summer. Internships are for college credit ONLY. Internships are available in the following departments: Programming, Production, News, Sales and Promotions. Applicants should be outgoing, detail oriented, organized, professional in appearance and able to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
